An all-inclusive playground being planned for Sartell Lions Regional Community Park in Sartell recently received a boost from Coborn’s grocery stores.
From Aug. 14-Sept. 17, money was raised by Coborn’s customers rounding up their bills to the next dollar, meaning the extra change went into the all-inclusive playground donation. At Coborn’s 13 stores, their customers raised $11,435.85 toward the cost of the playground.
Lions Club members accept- ed the donation recently in the Riverside Coborn’s store in Sartell.
The all-inclusive playground is one with specialized, safe play equipment that can be used by children of all skill levels, including those struggling with physical challenges and those who require wheelchairs.
Three Lions clubs (Sartell Lions, LeSauk Lions and St. Stephen Lions) are partnering to raise funds for the installation of the park, estimated to cost about $400,000. An application has been sent to International Lions for a grant request of $100,000.
A progress report about the park will be presented by Lions’ day, Oct. 10 Sartell City Council members at the 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10 Sartell City Council meeting.
