Good friends, Jackson Gilbert and Ruby Studer, participate in the Oct. 7 Kindness in Chalk event at Oak Ridge Elementary. The Sartell 6-year-olds, both in first grade, draw colorful pictures of rainbows and houses to bring cheer to others.

Pine Meadow Elementary fourth-grader Mohamed Soumah, 10, of Sartell, writes an inspirational phrase with chalk on the playground sidewalk Oct. 7 as part of an anti-bullying movement. His message reads, “One kind word can change someone’s entire day.”

Abdi Negewo (left) originates from Ethiopia. He and friend Preston Lebeck, both age 12, decided to create an image of world peace on the Sartell Middle School sidewalk Oct. 7. The two boys discuss how drawing a set of hands holding their world could be impactful.
