Nov. 14
4:15 p.m. School-bus violation. Second Street S./Zakrajshek Court. Officers received a school bus stop-arm violation report. The report stated the bus driver was at the intersection with the stop arm out and lights flashing. As two kids were attempting to exit the bus, the bus driver saw another car heading on Second Street S. was not slowing down. The bus driver honked the horn, at which time the vehicle stopped just past the stop arm. Officers spoke with the owner of the vehicle, who admitted to not paying attention and saw the stop arm at the last minute. The driver was warned. No kids were harmed.
Nov. 15
12:50 p.m. Neighborhood dispute. Sartell Street W. Officers met with the resident who stated the tenants of the property behind them were dumping grass clippings in his yard. Officers spoke to the neighbors and were advised they would take care of the issues moving forward.
Nov. 16
2:32 p.m. Traffic stop. Pinecone Road/Fifth Street N. While on patrol, officers saw a vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed. The officer clocked the vehicle going 40 mph in a 20-mph zone school zone. The officer conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver who stated they did not see the flashing lights indicating the lower speed during school hours. The driver was issued a citation for speeding.
Nov. 17
11:53 a.m. Crash. Riverside Avenue/CR 78. Officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash in the area. Officers learned the first vehicle was stopped at a red light at the intersection when they were rear ended by another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle stated they had a cut on their finger that they bumped, causing them to look down for a split second. When the driver looked up they collided with the first vehicle from behind. No one was hurt.
Nov. 18
9:59 p.m. Vandalism. Fifth Street NE. Officers were dispatched to the address on a report of vandalism. The homeowner stated their house, three vehicles and a baby stroller were egged overnight. The complainant believes this could be the same person who threw a rock at their vehicle last week. There are no suspects currently.
Nov. 19
4:33 p.m. Pursuit of vehicle. Fourth Avenue/Heritage Drive. Officers were dispatched to a report of a dirt bike driving on and causing damage to the old landfill site. While en route, officers saw the vehicle drive past. Officers attempted to make a traffic stop and a pursuit began. Officers discontinued pursuit due to safety concerns. The driver was last seen heading north onto CR 4. Officers are working with other area law enforcement to identify the driver for possible charges including trespassing and property damage.
Nov. 20
4:36 p.m. Ordinance violation. Killdeer Avenue S. Officers received a phone call about an ordinance violation. The caller stated a vehicle was parking and blocking the sidewalk. Officers arrived and noticed the vehicle was indeed blocking the walkway. Officers spoke to the homeowner and advised him of the violation and the safety issues with blocking the sidewalk that pedestrians use. The vehicle was later moved.
