Jan. 16
1:31 p.m. Fraud. Pinecone Road S. Officers spoke with the complainant who stated their son was scammed over the phone. The suspect, who claimed to be a family member, stated they needed to wire $2,000 for a surprise for the victim’s father. After doing so, the suspect told the victim to send an additional $1,000 to the same wire account. At this point the victim’s father got on the phone and confronted the suspect, who eventually hung up. Officers advised the complainant to cancel all accounts and to monitor for any other suspicious activity.
Jan. 17
11:03 p.m. Suspicious vehicle. Bluebird Court. Officers responded to the area for a suspicious vehicle parked in the roadway. The caller stated the vehicle was parked the wrong way on the roadway and away from the curb. Officers arrived and found the vehicle, unoccupied and locked. Officers tried to speak with the owner of the vehicle but got no answer. The officers told the caller they did not feel the vehicle was an immediate hazard on the roadway and would be addressed if not moved when winter parking takes effect. A short time later the owner of the vehicle called back and said they would have the vehicle moved.
Jan. 18
10:26 a.m. Traffic stop. Riverside Avenue. Officers were on routine patrol when they noticed a vehicle displaying 2023 registration. The officer ran the plate and found it had expired in September. The officer initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver who stated they did not have a valid driver’s license. Officers cited the driver for not having a valid license and gave a warning for the expired registration.

7:32 p.m. Threats complaint. First Avenue N. The complainant said they had been getting threatening messages from a male party. The complainant stated the male had gone through her phone and posted a nude photo of her on her snapchat story. The complainant stated they received other messages from the suspect threatening to kill her. The complainant stated they just wanted to document this incident so they could file a protection order.
Jan. 20
7:31 p.m. Car/animal accident. First Street NE/11th Avenue NE. Officers were on patrol when they saw a vehicle pulled over with its flashers on. Officers spoke with the driver who stated they had just hit a deer. The vehicle had damage to the front driver’s side. Officers requested a tow for the vehicle. No one was hurt.

11:56 p.m. Harassment. Trentwood Drive. Officers responded to reports of harassment in the area. The complainant stated the suspect was driving around their house and was concerned the person would damage or vandalize their truck. Officers learn the individual had previously messed with the caller’s truck. Officers went over the HRO process; no further action was taken.
Jan. 22
5:55 a.m. Traffic stop. CR 120/Pinecone Road. Officers were on patrol when they noticed a vehicle driving without its rear lights on. Officers initiated a traffic stop and informed the driver about the infraction. Driver was given a warning and told to get their lights fixed as soon as possible.
Jan. 23
7:12 p.m. Traffic stop. Second Street S./CR 78. Officers were on routine patrol when they noticed a vehicle driving over the 30-mph speed limit. The officer made a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, who stated they were in a hurry to get to their girlfriend’s house. The driver was issued a citation for speeding and released.

4:45 p.m. Crash. Dehler Drive/Connecticut Avenue S. Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash in the area. Officers learned the first vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way and pulled out in front of the second vehicle. The driver of the first vehicle stated they did not see the second vehicle until it was too late. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Jan. 25
8:27 a.m. Hit-and-run property damage. Huntington Drive. Officers were dispatched for a hit-and-run. The caller stated they heard a loud bang and saw their mailbox in the middle of the street. With the help of neighborhood cameras, officers learned a vehicle was attempting to make a turn onto Brianna Drive, slid on the icy roads and struck the mailbox before leaving the scene. Later that day, officers received a phone call stating their son was the driver of the vehicle and they were going to have him apologize to the homeowner and fix the mailbox.

5:13 p.m. Attempted entry. Third Street NE. Officers were dispatched to the address for an attempted entry call. The homeowner reported finding a key lodged in their front door, as if someone was trying to key in. The homeowner stated the key was not theirs and was unsure of who was attempting to get in. Nothing further.
Jan. 27
2:12 a.m. Property damage. Perimeter Drive. Officers were called for a property damage complaint. The homeowner stated they woke and saw their outdoor lamp/propane heater was moved, leaning over and broken. The lamp was believed to be valued at around $100-$150. The homeowner requested extra patrol in the area at night.
Jan. 28
10:30 p.m. Juvenile runaway. Fourth Street N. Officers were dispatched to a juvenile runaway. The boy’s mother stated he was supposed to be home by 10 p.m. from work and wasn’t home yet. When officers arrived at the home, the boy had just arrived. Nothing further was needed.
Jan. 29
2:02 a.m. Theft. Second Street S. Officers were called to a business for a theft. An employee called stating a woman walked outside without paying for several items. She was also acting aggressively toward the staff. Officers arrived and spoke with the woman, who was acting out. She admitted to taking items from the store. The woman was cited for misdemeanor theft and given a trespass notice from the business.
