Theodore Deuel, Sartell, was recently selected as an honor graduate from the Division School’s Corporal’s Course while stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif. Cpl. Deuel is part of the First Marine Division and First Recon Battalion.
Laurana Deuel, Sartell, was recently named to the fall dean’s list for academic excellence at the University of Minnesota-Duluth’s Swenson College of Science and Engineering.
Two Sartell students were recently named to the fall dean’s list at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
Zachary Fisher and Brook Radi both earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.5.
Michelle Kenric Hair and Spa, Sartell, owned by Wendy and Mike Zimny was recently named to the Salon Today 200 by Salon Today magazine, the leading business publication for salon and spa owners.
The magazine’s 19th annual Salon Today 200 issue profiled the selected salons in its January 2016 edition. The 200 salons were honored for their best business practices from applications submitted by Salon Today readers, who represent the 20,000 top-producing salons and spas in the country.
The magazine honored applicants in 11 different best-practice categories, including, compensation and benefits, customer service, employee education, inventory management, philanthropy, planned profitability, retail and merchandising, retention and referral programs, salon culture, and technology and growth. Michelle Kenric Hair and Spa was honored in the following: growth.

For a salon to be named to the Salon Today 200, it had to meet the following criteria: 1) The salon or spa opened on or before Jan. 1, 2013. 2) The salon is a provider of professional salon services including one or more of the following: hair care, nail care, skin care, body care or spa treatments; 3) The salon or spa generated annual service and product sales revenues of at least $250,000 per year since 2013; 4) The owner provided statistical information about his or her business and completed at least one of the Best-Practice category essay sections; and 5) The applicant submitted documentation to verify financials if he or she competed in the growth or planned profitability categories.
In the commemorative January/February 2016 issue, Salon Today profiled 200 individual salons, although these salons could be honored in more than one category. The 2013 Salon Today 200 honored 101 salons in growth; 29 salons in compensation and benefits; 22 salons in customer service; 26 salons in employee education; 33 salons in inventory management; 24 salons in philanthropy; 15 salons in planned profitability; 24 salons retail and merchandising; 25 salons in retention and referral programs; 33 salons in salon culture; and 27 salons in technology.

Samuel Zwiener, Sartell, was recently named to the fall dean’s list at Midland University in Fremont, Neb. students must earn a minimum 3.5 grade-point average to qualify for this honor.
Bret Thompson, Sartell, was recently named to the fall dean’s list at St. Cloud Technical and Community College. He is in the instrumentation and process control and mechatronics programs.
Cole Nelson, son of Julie A. Nelson, Sartell, and a junior at Sartell High School,was recently named to the president’s list at St. Cloud Technical College.
Students must earn a minimum 4.0 grade-point average to qualify for this honor.
