St. Cloud Technical & Community College is hosting the 15th annual MN VEX Robotics State Championship from Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 27-March 1 at the River’s Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud. Students in grades 3-12 design, build and program robots to compete in a game challenge. More than 200 teams from across Minnesota compete in the State Championship. The VEX Robotics State Championship depends on the generosity of donations and the dedication of volunteers. Volunteer roles require no prior experience, and there are positions for the whole family. Adult Basic Education is looking for people who want to give back to their community by helping others improve their skills in English. ABE volunteer tutors work with small groups of students during English as a Second Language classes to assist in learning and reading activities. This involves assisting students with questions on pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar, speaking directly with students and leading small groups of students during in-class reading/writing activities. Assumption Community Faith In Action serves our communities by making connections between those who need some assistance and those who can provide the services. Volunteers assist individuals 60 and older with a wide variety of activities from transportation to homemaking. Volunteers are needed to help with snow removal.
