The Sartell High School Student Council is once again sponsoring its holiday program dubbed “Thanksgiving in a Box,” for which food is gathered so people in need can enjoy a delicious, nutritious Thanksgiving dinner.
Students are hoping to gather enough food to fill 100 boxes. Last year, they packed 75 boxes.
“Thanksgiving in a Box” is led by student-council member Nathan Ramberg. The food items are collected by students and by other Sartell residents.
This is how it works:
The donation period is scheduled for an almost two-week period, Nov. 6-17. During that time, students in their first-period classes will work with other students to bring in food items to complete a Thanksgiving Box. The first-period class that gathers the most filled boxes will win Panera bagels for everyone in the class.
Other Sartell residents can be part of the effort by bringing food items to a big donation box in the high school’s main office inside the front doors. The office will be open from 8 a.m.-3:15 p.m. during the collection period from Nov. 6-17.
Here is a list of the items needed for “Thanksgiving in a Box.”
