Tom Jonas, Cold Spring
Joe Perske is running for state senate in District 13. I had a chance encounter with Joe recently. I told him as a life-long Republican, I intended to vote for Jeff Howe. Joe proceeded to express his disdain for party affiliation and said he was independent-minded, a consummate politician.
After all he’s been “running” most of his life. For city council, mayor, as the DFL-endorsed candidate for U.S. Congress, county commissioner and now as the DFL-endorsed candidate for state senate.
In a St. Cloud Times interview, Joe described himself as a “zealous moderate.” That sounds like a euphemism for “liberal.” He won’t carry the torch for outstate Minnesota while caucusing with big-city liberals.
A vast preponderance of Democrat senators are from Hennepin and Ramsey counties. We need someone who will protect our rural voice and not placate to their radical liberal agenda. Jeff Howe is the candidate who will defend true conservative values. With the Senate tied with 33 Democrats and 33 Republicans, this election will decide the direction of our state.
Don’t let big-city liberals decide what’s best for rural Minnesota!
Vote Jeff Howe on Nov. 6!
