Icy road conditions contributed to a single-car crash Sunday morning in St. Wendel Township.
On December 20, at approximately 11:06 a.m., Cody Gangl, 19, of Kimball, was traveling northbound on County Road 2 near Apache Lane when he lost control of his truck on an icy corner.
According to a release from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Gangl’s vehicle went into an uncontrollable spin, crossed over County Road 2 and struck a support wire for a power pole on the northwest corner of the intersection with 95th Ave. The 1995 Ford Ranger came to a stop in the west ditch of County Road 2.
Gangl had face and head lacerations from the airbag deployment and a headache but mentioned no other injuries.
He was treated by St. Joseph Fire & Rescue and Mayo Ambulance before signing off on medical care.
Stearns Electric arrived on scene to ensure the power line would not be a hazard, and the vehicle was removed.
