The story of baseball legend Jackie Robinson is the subject of “42,” the film to be shown when “Friday Night at the Movies” debuts at the Sartell Senior Connection Center.
The movie, free to anyone of any age, will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15.
The center is located in the School District Services Building, 212 3rd Ave. N. in Sartell.
There will be free popcorn on movie night, and participants can bring their own refreshments if they wish.
The movie is entitled “42” because that was Jackie Robinson’s jersey number when he was playing with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Robinson was the first Afro-American to play in Major League baseball in the modern era. He is considered an important forerunner for breaking down the race barrier in many areas of American life.
The Sartell Senior Connection hopes to host a “Friday Night at the Movies” event regularly in the coming months. Suggestions are welcome. The digitized movies are shown on a large pull-down screen.
No registration is required. People can just show up the night of the movie.
