A new fun social gathering called “Joetown Blocks” will take place from noon-5 p.m. Sunday, June 9 in downtown St. Joseph.
The celebration’s name is a variation of the name for the annual July 3 downtown mu- sical concert dubbed “Joetown Rocks.” The “Blocks” in the variation refer to the city blocks in the city’s downtown area.
Included in the public cele- bration will be a farmers’ mar- ket, a car show, a power-wheels derby (starts at noon), activities for kids, a beer garden, a dunk tank, a 50/50 raffle, acoustic musicians and vendors.
Those waiting in line to be dunked in the dunk tank in- clude many city officials such as Mayor Rick Schultz, Nate Keller, David Murphy and coun- cil members Bob Loso, Kevin Kluesner and Adam Scepaniak, among many others.
The event is hosted by the St. Joseph Convention and Vis- itors Bureau. The St. Joseph City Council approved street closures to through traffic for Joetown Blocks, and the city’s Economic Development Admin- istration Board approved $5,000 in funding for the event.
Joetown Blocks is being billed as “a vibrant tapestry of our tight-knit community com- ing together for a day of fun, good and fellowship.”
