12:56 p.m. Traffic stop. Riverside Avenue S. Officers were on patrol and learned the driver ahead of them had a revoked license. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver, who stated they knew they had a revoked license, but couldn’t remember why, and needed to get to work. The driver was issued a citation for driving after revocation.
May 8
9:30 a.m. Animal complaint. West Meadow Court. The caller stated they had been bitten by a dog while dropping off a package. The caller stated they are familiar with the dog, and they have never been bitten by it before. The victim only had minor injuries. Officers spoke with the dog’s owner, who was unaware the dog had bitten someone. Officers advised the dog would need to be placed on a 10-day in-home quarantine period. The dog was up to date on its vaccinations.
May 9
8:30 p.m. Theft from vehicle. 801 Pinecone Road. The victim stated someone had broken the back passenger window of their vehicle and grabbed her purse while she was out golfing. The purse contained a Michael Kors wallet, gift cards, house key, rings, credit cards, cash and Samsung earbuds. This was one of two thefts-from-vehicle calls officers responded to in the area. The second incident also had the victims purse stolen after having the car window broken. Officers are working with the business to determine if surveillance video can help identify the suspect(s) in the thefts.
May 10
11:19 p.m. Traffic stop. Seventh Street N./First Avenue N. Officers were on routine patrol and noticed the car in front of them crossing over the fog line multiple times. Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver. Officers say the driver did not show signs of impairment, however, could not explain the reason for failing to maintain the lane. While running the driver’s information, officers learned the driver had a revoked driving status and was unable to provide proof of insurance for the vehicle. The driver was given a warning for failing to maintain lanes, and a citation for driving after revocation and no proof of insurance.
May 11
9:32 p.m. Noise complaint. Ninth Avenue N. Officers were called for a noise complaint. The caller reported hearing loud mufflers in the parking lot after telling a group outside to be quiet. The group got verbal with the caller before speeding off. The complainant called back a second time now stating someone was sawing wood. Officers arrived on scene and asked some people outside if they had heard any noise and they said no.
May 12
1:42 a.m. Citizen contact. Pinecone Road. Officers were exiting the parking garage when they spotted a car stopped in the turn lane with several people out of the car. When asked what they were doing, they said they were running through the sprinklers. Officers advised them to go home, and they left.
May 13
12:50 p.m. Fraud. The victim stated they received a call stating they had won $3.5 million from the Publisher’s Clearing House. The caller stated the victim first needed to send some money to collect their winnings. The victim was instructed to send two different money orders totaling $1,900 and mail them to an address in Georgia. The caller then told the victim to burn the receipts. Officers contacted the postmaster to try and intercept the mailing but were told without an address it would be difficult to intercept the money orders. Officers advised the victim to block the number and to inform law enforcement if they receive similar calls.
May 14
3:33 p.m. Hit and run. Fifth St. N. Officers received a call of a hit and run. The caller stated they went to work and when they returned to their vehicle to leave for the day, they noticed damage to the rear passenger side. It’s unknown when the accident may have occurred. The driver stated the damage may have also happened when they were at the gym in St. Cloud earlier in the day.
May 15
5:27 p.m. Traffic stop. Pinecone Road/15th Street N. Officers were on routine patrol when they approached a vehicle traveling faster than the posted speed limit. The officer initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver who stated they were on their way to the hospital as their mother was taken in. Officers gave the driver a verbal warning for speeding and having expired tabs on the vehicle.
May 16
5:17 p.m. Crash. CR 1/Heritage Drive. Officers were called to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection. Officers learned both vehicles were heading east on Heritage Drive. The driver of the second vehicle told police they were looking for oncoming traffic and thought the vehicle ahead of them had proceeded, but didn’t, causing a rear-end crash. No one was hurt and the vehicles had only minor damage.
May 17
2:50 p.m. Animal bite. Hi Vue Drive. The caller stated a dog had gotten loose and ended up in a fight with two other dogs. Officers spoke with the dog’s owner, who stated they didn’t know how the dog got loose from their chain and ended up going down to where the neighbors’ dogs were. It was during that time a small fight broke out between the dogs and the dogs quickly separated. It’s unknown what provoked the dogs to fight, but they all came away without serious injuries.
May 18
10:15 p.m. Fireworks complaint. Victory Loop. The caller reported their neighbors were out setting off fireworks and one had hit their house. Officers spoke with the neighbors who admitted to shooting off illegal fireworks but denied hitting a house. Officers explained the limitations in the firework ordinance and asked them not to use illegal fireworks in the future.
May 19
10:18 p.m. Verbal. Second Street S. The caller reported an unknown male had threatened her and a friend in a business parking lot. The suspect began yelling racial slurs and the two parties began yelling at each other. The caller stated as they left the parking lot, they were being followed by the man, before he turned off onto a different road. The caller wanted the incident documented at this time.
May 20
7:30 p.m. Traffic stop. CR 120/Connecticut Avenue S. Officers were on patrol when they observed the driver holding a cell phone in their hand and talking while at a stop light. The officer initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver who admitted to being on their cell phone. The driver also admitted to not having a driver’s license and was driving on an instruction permit. The driver was given a citation for using a wireless communication device while driving and an instruction permit violation. Officers allowed the driver to pull into a nearby parking lot to wait for a valid driver.
May 21
11:40 p.m. Suspicious vehicle. Riverside Avenue N. Officers were patrolling Watab Park, when they noticed a vehicle parked in the parking lot. An officer spoke with the occupants who stated they were just talking. The officer reminded the individuals the park was closed, and they left.
May 22
5:51 a.m. Theft from a vehicle. Victory Loop. Officers were dispatched to a theft-from-a-vehicle complaint. The caller reported their car had been rummaged through sometime overnight. The caller believed they had locked the vehicle when they got home from work, but they were not sure. The victim stated their iPhone and roughly $220 in cash were taken from the center console. No suspects currently.
May 23
2:39 p.m. Traffic stop. Pinecone Road/17th Street N. Officers were on routine patrol when they observed a vehicle driving faster than the posted speed limit. Officers initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver. The driver stated they were in the process of moving and did not know how fast they were going. The driver was giving a warning for speeding.
May 24
10:32 a.m. Vehicle tampering. Troop Drive. The caller had stated someone had entered their unlocked vehicle and rummaged through the compartments. The victim reported there was nothing of value in the vehicle but wanted to document the incident. Officers received several multiple reports of someone going through other unlocked vehicles in the area, however nothing was taken.
May 25
9:33 p.m. Fireworks. Sunset Avenue. Officers were on patrol when they heard fireworks in the area. A short time later they received a call about a fireworks complaint. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the source. No more fireworks or explosions were heard.
May 26
1:54 a.m. Traffic stop. Pinecone Road S. Officers were on routine patrol when they saw a vehicle driving without one of their headlights working. The officer spoke to the driver and gave them a verbal warning and insisted they correct the issue as soon as possible.
May 27
2:48 p.m. Traffic stop. Riverside Avenue S./Michaels Court. Officers were on stationary patrol when they observed a vehicle traveling faster than the posted speed limit. Officers initiated a traffic stop and while running the plate, learned the vehicle had expired registration. The officer spoke with the driver who stated they were returning home from a trip up north and were not familiar with the area. The driver also stated they were aware of the expired registration and haven’t gotten around to it yet. The officers issued a citation from the expired registration and gave the driver a verbal warning for speeding.
