I along with many readers of the Newsleaders congratulate Dennis Dalman for winning the Herman Roe editorial award from the Minnesota Newspaper Association. This prestigious award is one of the highest honors a writer can receive.
One has to be impressed with the amount of knowledge Dennis can process in so many areas: music, classic literature, history, moves and politics, just to name a few. If Dennis and I met at Kay’s Kitchen for coffee and a chat, I know I would be the listener.
I also love to read, but I don’t think I’ve ever read “one of the greats.” In music, I enjoy listening to songs sung by John Denver, Susan Boyle, and Peter, Paul and Mary. Yikes!
We can talk about history and movies. I grew up in a small town and every Saturday there was a free movie. Dennis, can you tell me “the plot” of every Ma and Pa Kettle movie ever made?
I know we could talk politics with ease. If you put Trump, Putin and Musk in a closet, I wonder which one would come out alive?
Harry Truman warned us to make sure a presidential candidate understands he is “not the power, but an instrument of the power.”
I love your work Dennis, so please stay strong and never stop writing!
