Sartell Lions have rescheduled their annual spring cleanup for 8 a.m. – noon on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Riverview Intermediate School parking lot. The fundraiser was postponed last spring during the initial Covid-19 stay-at-home order.
The following health precautions will be taken during the event: All customers remain in their vehicle; workers will be masked and gloved; no change given (check, cash, credit card).
Home pickups will be made, but items need to be available in a garage or driveway. Call 320-293-1560 or 320-828-6620 for home pickup.
This annual fundraiser is normally scheduled near Earth Day to support the environment. Disposal of appliances, electronics, furniture, batteries, tires, metal and construction scrap will be provided. A few of the many benefits of proper recycling include reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators; conserving natural resources; preventing pollution; and supporting American manufacturing. Hazardous waste or prescription drugs will not be accepted.
Prices depend on the item, for example office furniture, refrigerated appliances and mattresses are $25 each. Couches and stuffed chairs are $30 each. The charge for a 6-by-6-foot trailer of general items is $120 and a larger, 8-by-8-foot load is $160. Televisions, computers and other electronics cost $1 per pound.
