Marcella “Marcy,” 94, died June 23 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home, Sauk Rapids, MN.
Her funeral was held June 27 at Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing, Minn. Burial was in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing.
She was born April 20, 1930 to Alvin Sr. and Tina Wiberg in Fosston, Minn.
Hallan considered herself a pioneer woman. Growing up during the depression, living on a farm as a young woman, she encountered many obstacles in her life. She was a determined, strong-willed woman who wished to do better. After her children were grown, she went back to school and received her degree in criminal justice thereafter, working as a guard at Pinkerton’s. She also did work in home health. She volunteered at her church, Congregation of Good Shepherd. She was known for her excellent meals, delicious cookies and yummy jam. Her embroidery and hand-crafted potholders were professional.
Family time was so important to her, especially her grandbabies.
Survivors include the following: children: Sheila [Steve] Bratt, Yankton, S.D., Larry [Connie], Keewatin, Minn., Linda [Fran] Pinkelman, Hoskins, Neb., David, Billy and Jody Korth, all of Hibbing, Wendi [Mike] Jones, Sartell; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; brother Glen [Helen] Wiberg, Askov, Minn., and sister Beverlee Ostenaa, Cottage Grove, Minn.
She was preceded in death by the following: her husband George, 2009; siblings: Alvin Jr., Charlie, Dennis and Darwin, Verna Ostrander, Gloria Roundy, Terry Woodford.
