Nathan Hylla, the project management supervisor for the Stearns County Soil and Water Conservation District, recently successfully completed a one-year leadership development program sponsored by the Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts and the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources. The program, titled “The MASWCD Leadership Institute” brought together 20 participants from across the state to strengthen their leadership capacity for conservation work in Minnesota. The group was comprised of locally elected SWCD supervisors, local SWCD staff and staff from the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources. During six in-depth sessions, participants learned about and practiced leadership lessons, applying those skills to a statewide policy issue. Topics included building facilitative leadership skills, visioning and influencing policy change, framing issues, strengthening team leadership, decision-making, dealing with conflict, effective questioning skills and working with stakeholders in public issues. This was the 10th group to complete the statewide leadership program which began in 1996. The content of the program is designed and delivered by staff of the University of Minnesota Extension. “By participating in activities like this, the Stearns County SWCD is taking steps to invest in employees as future leaders in conservation,” said Dennis Fuchs, the Stearns County SWCD district administrator. For further information about the program contact the MASWCD at 651-690-9028 or visit its website at www.maswcd.org .

Peichel joins SCFCU as mortgage manager
Ali Peichel of Sartell recently accepted the position of mortgage manager at St. Cloud Federal Credit Union. She will serve as a member of the management team, accountable for enhancing the member experience, as well as employee and organizational efficiencies in the mortgage channel. She will also analyze the product portfolio and look to identify opportunities for an even more robust mortgage program.
Peichel has extensive industry experience spanning nearly two decades, most recently with Wells Fargo where she helped people finance and find their homes. With a successful career behind her, she attributes her success to her passion of helping people reach their dreams. She loves working with home buyers and watching them create roots that can last a lifetime. When asked what advice she would provide to people looking to purchase a home, she stated “Never settle and be patient, if something falls through there will end up being something better around the corner.”
Peichel holds a bachelor’s degree in finance, and a minor in economics from St. Cloud State University. She also spends time volunteering in the community by teaching Homestretch classes as part of the Central Minnesota Housing Partnership.
“We are really excited to have Ali on board,” said Jed A. Meyer, president and CEO of SCFCU. “She is tenacious and shares in our mission to make a difference for people. I look forward to her expertise to help us build an even stronger mortgage program for our members, one of the most important purchases anyone makes.”
In addition to her career aspirations, Peichel is also passionate about being outdoors with her family. Her hobbies are spending time at the family cabin or camping, fishing and water skiing with her fiancé, Eric. Together they have four children: Noah (17), Parker (11), Chace (15), and Lilly (14). The family also spends a lot of time in wrestling and basketball venues.
“I was at a point in my career where the idea of a smaller, local community felt right,” Peichel said. “St. Cloud Federal Credit Union has a mission that aligns with my belief of doing what is right for people, and I am excited to join the team.”
