Andrew Bender, son of Dorothy Soukup of Sartell and Dan Bender of St. Cloud, is a Top Ten Senior for St. John’s Preparatory School in Collegeville. Bender was a member of the following: basketball team for four years, serving as captain his senior year; cross country team two years; soccer team two years; baseball team four years, serving as captain his senior year; National Honor Society for two years, serving as secretary his senior year; Student Council for three years, serving as vice president his senior year; and, Mu Alpha Theta two years, serving as treasurer his junior year and president his senior year. Bender will receive an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, an optional two-year program of rigorous study during a student’s junior and senior years. He was a junior marshal at last years’ St. John’s Prep commencement. Bender plans to attend Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. and study neuroscience on a pre-med track.

They are the following: Kathryn Haglin, bachelor’s degree in communication disorders, summa cum laude (3.8 grade-point average); Spencer Ahrendt, bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, cum laude (3.3 grade-point average).

Four Sartell students earned bachelor’s degrees May 9 from Southwest Minnesota State University, Marshall.
They are the following: Stacy Anderson, management, cum laude; Callie Frank, theater and hospitality management, magna cum laude; Joshua Hughes, environmental science, magna cum laude; and Adam Rieland, management.
Magna cum laude represents students with grade-point averages between 3.5 and 3.79; cum laude represent students with grade-point averages of 3.3 to 3.49.
