Three Sauk Rapids-Rice students were recently awarded scholarships by the Hospitality Minnesota Education Foundation. They are the following:
The Hospitality Minnesota Education Foundation (HMEF) has awarded $92,000 in scholarships to 35 students who are pursuing post-secondary education for careers in the hospitality industry. The scholarships were provided through the generosity of Minnesota hospitality operators and were presented May 19. Recipients for 2015-16 include (with their hometown, post-secondary school and scholarship received):
Loganne Kirr of Sauk Rapids, Le Cordon Bleu, Famous Dave’s Honorary/NRAEF Scholarship; Madelaine Virchow of Rice, Le Cordon Bleu, Taher Family/Torke Coffee Roasting Co. Scholarship; and, Madison Waseca of Sauk Rapids, the Culinary Institute of America, Wyman Nelson Family and Northcott Hospitality/Saputo Dairy Foods USA Scholarship.
The scholarship recipients have plans for careers as restaurant owners and managers, chefs, bakers, hotel administrators, event planners, hospitality human resource managers and caterers.
