Feb. 11
9:44 p.m. Threats. Eighth Avenue SE. Complainant had received graphic photos and threatening messages. Officer took photos of the messages sent to the complainant. The messages talked about the complainant wasting a girl’s time from a pimp. The complainant said he does not know why he would be getting these messages and stated he was scared from the messages. Officer ran the phone number texting him and came back with no results and the area code is out of New York. Officer couldn’t find the name from the messages. The cartel in the messages was found to be a real cartel from Mexico mostly used for drugs. Officer told complainant this was most likely spam and he should block the number. Officer said he could offer more patrol for the area if complainant wished and he did. This incident was documented.
Feb. 16
2:37 p.m. School bus stop-arm violation. CR 133. Officer witnessed a driver drive past a Trobecs school bus while its red lights flashing and stop-arm extended. The driver said she did not see the bus. Citation issued.
Feb. 17
2:32 p.m. School bus stop-arm violation. CR 133. Officer observed a drive pass a Trobec’s bus while its red lights were flashing and stop-arm extended. Driver said he did not see the red lights and was distracted because he was talking to his wife about a sick child. Citation issued.
Feb. 19
1:30 p.m. Vehicle in ditch. CR 121. Officer observed a vehicle stuck in the snow at Sauk River boat landing. Driver stated he was trying to turn around and got stuck. He stated his friend was coming over to pull him out. No tow truck needed.
Feb. 20
7:20 a.m. Accident. College Avenue/Date Street. Officer arrived and found both vehicles parked with debris in intersection. Both parties were not injuried. Driver of Vehicle 1 was westbound on Dale, approached stop sign, stopped then proceeded and was sliding. Vehicle 1was struck on passenger said and said he believed the hit to be intentional. Driver of Vehicle 2 said she was southbound on College Avenue N., said Vehicle 2 pulled out, she hit her brakes and was unable to stop due to slippery conditions. Roads were ice and snow covered. Driver of Vehicle 1 admitted to having no insurance and asked officer if the crash could be reported as a later time so he could put insurance on the vehicle. Officer said that would be a fraudulent report and would absolutely not do that. Officer found Vehicle 1 driver also had a revoked license. Citation issued. Photos taken.
Feb. 22
12:01 a.m. Hit and run crash. CR 75/CR 3. Officer arrived on scene. The complainant, an employee for Mayo ambualnce, said a vehicle had hit the ambulance and continued east on CR 75. Ambulance driver said they were in the left turn lane to turn south onto CR 2 when a dark-colored crossover vehicle crossed over the median and struck the ambulance in the rear driver side tire area. Ambulance driver said after the vehicle struck them it continued east bound in the west bound lane. Officer took pictures of the damage to the ambulance, as well as the tire marks and debris left behind. Both ambulance staff stated they were fine. See crash report for further. Parts were located at the crash scene and a VIN number was also located. Officer proceeded to address of suspect vehicle. Driver said he was northbound on CR 2 to go plow snow and had fallen asleep. Last thing he said he remembered was the curve before the lights. Driver said he thought he hit a sign as he only saw that laying down later in the night. He said he did not know he hit a vehicle. Officer took photos and obtained driver’s information and insurance and then updated the crash report. Also updated ambulance driver’s supervisor.
Feb. 25
10:48 a.m. Vehicle in ditch. Cedar Street E. Officer came across a vehicle in the median ditch on CR 75 W. that had driven off the road. Tow truck was requested for a pull out. Vehilce was pulled out. Vehicle plate and vin came back not on file. Nothing further.
Feb. 26
7:06 p.m. Missing-person report. Leaf Road. Officer was dispatched to a missing-person complaint, gathered details and ultimately entered Mariah Maxwell as missing. See report for further.
Feb. 27
8:28 p.m. 16th Avenue SE. A manager from Arlington Place assisted living said she had received a call from a manager at Kwik Trip regarding a check that had been found in their parking lot. The check was from U-care for a client in the assisted living facility. She said staff gets mail every day. Family does not ever receive the checks, they go directly to Arlington Place. Assisted living manager said she believes it was stolen out of their mailbox in the last few days. Officer went to Kwik Trip; staff had found check on Feb. 25. No other info. Management was going to check cameras and call officer back. Assisted living manager was going to call U-care and post office to get more info and email it to officer. It should be noted Arlington Place now has the check, and does not believe anyone is out any money. They don’t know if any other mail would have been stolen. Officer made follow-up contact with Kwik Trip managers who said they were unable to determine where the check had come from. No video was available. No other action can be taken unless new information received.
