“Climate Change: Drought and Declining Water Resources"

Wednesday, February 9, 2022, 1:00-3:00 p.m. via Zoom

We will first look at some historical examples of voter suppression and include examples of ballots from the 1800s. What constitutes an open voting system? What are the various ways that legislation can suppress voting and how does "dark money" influence the process? During the discussion, we will learn about progressive reforms, the voting rights act and its aftermath, the effects of closing polling places, and what the League of Women Voters is doing. We will conclude with examples of positive actions that are being taken to counteract voter suppression.
