Christa Ogilvy, Sartell
In 2002, I moved to Sartell because of my faith in its educational system. For 10 years, I’ve enjoyed the benefits of an outstanding school district. Last year was difficult. Our school district faced new challenges – communication concerns among parents and teachers and conflict unlike any other year. As a result, parents know the 2012 school board elections are crucial to ensure continued success in our district. It’s important to begin educating ourselves now so we’re informed by Nov. 6. What we need is experience.
Michelle Meyer is running for the two-year school board term and our district absolutely needs her experience. She served on the school board from 2000-2008 and was chair from 2007-2008. While she was on the board, our schools surpassed the state standards.
As a former teacher and current parent in the Sartell schools, she is in touch with the staff and she understands school programs. If we want our schools to continue to be outstanding, we need school board members from our district, with children in our district, who understand the programs and know the staff. Meyer is the candidate that offers what we need.
What you may not know is that after leaving the school board, she shored up and solidified the Sartell-St. Stephen Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization bringing thousands of dollars each year into our schools, funding programs like Sabre Splash; Sartell Middle School extensions and accelerated classes; elementary art club and Building Language Together in the preschools. I’ve had the privilege of serving with her on the SSEF board for four years and what I’ve learned is she never stops working for the Sartell schools.
I have complete confidence in her passion for an experience with District 748. Take time to meet her, talk to her in the candidate forums and please, vote for her experience if you want our school district to continue to be outstanding.
Most of us who moved into this community did so because of its schools. Now it’s time for us to do our homework for them. Study up, go to the forums and please, vote for Michelle Meyer for the two-year term on the Sartell-St. Stephen School Board.
