Thank you, Sartell-St. Stephen Newsleader, for your splendid and uplifting article titled “Art students’ hidden mugs spread joy” by Madison Evans.
Students used the skills they learned in art class to create mugs designed with positive affirmations and then hid them in the Sartell and St. Stephen area. The mugs contained a form for the finders to complete on which they expressed how they “fill their cup” – i.e., how they engage in self-care and random acts of kindness. The messages were then posted on the district’s Facebook page.
I was uplifted by the thought of this project. We all have been reading about some of the negative things happening in our world. This story showed us how one person’s actions – Sartell High School art teacher Erin Phillips – made a lesson for her students in positive thinking and kindness.
