For the eighth consecutive season, the Sartell Muskies amateur baseball team will compete at the state tournament in Delano and Maple Lake.
The tournament will begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Delano Municipal Stadium. The Muskies won the Class C state championship in 2013, and that was the last time – until now – that Maple Lake and Delano hosted the tournament.
They will begin tournament play with an astonishing seasonal record of 31-2. They won the Region 11C title by winning all four games, with the winning game an 11-1 defeat of Foley.
The team received an opening-round bye for the state tournament.
Throughout seasonal play, the Muskies lost only to the Cold Spring Springers (2-6) and the Minnesota Polecats (1-2).
Among the teams they defeated were those from St. Joseph, St. Augusta, Opole, Nisswa, Becker, Rogers, Fergus Falls, Clear Lake, Crookston and more.
