The Sartell-St. Stephen Newsleader was named the official newspaper for the City of Sartell at the Jan. 8 city council meeting.
The decision happened during the making of appointments for the new year, 2024.
“Official paper” means the city publishes in it notices of meetings, bid projects and other forms of legal notices as required by law so as to inform the city’s residents.
In years past, Sartell has designated both the daily St. Cloud Times and the Newsleaders as official newspapers, and more recently it named the relatively new St. Cloud Live as “official.” However, the council agreed at the Jan. 8 meeting that the Sartell-St. Stephen Newsleader is mailed free to all city residents every other Friday and that kind of broader reach is advantageous. It was also noted at the council the Newsleaders in recent months has boosted its online access, which is a plus for timely city notifications and other kinds of timely announcements.
