Joel Roske, son of Peggy and Michael Roske of St. Joseph, is studying in Chile during fall semester 2013 through the Office for Education Abroad at the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph and St. John’s University in Collegeville. Roske is a junior environmental studies and Hispanic studies major at SJU.
Three St. Joseph students will perform at the Carol Concert at the University of Minnesota, Morris. They are Andrew, Clara and Maryanna Kroska.
The concert will be held Dec. 6–8 at Assumption Catholic Church, 209 E. Third St., Morris. This will be the 35th Carol Concert and the first under the direction of Christina Armendarez ’00, assistant professor of music. Featuring seasonal favorites and well-known choral arrangements, the annual concerts promise festive holiday music and entertainment inspired by a bygone era. Performance times are as follows: 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 and 7, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8.A meal prepared by Bello Cucina will be available at an additional cost. St. Joseph Y2K Lions announce peace poster winners
All Saints Academy student Kian Siasu, St. John’s Prep School student Justine Meyer and Kennedy Community School student Hope Hartwig were named first-place winners at their respective schools in local competition of the Peace Poster Contest, sponsored by the St. Joseph Y2K Lions. The contest is to emphasize the importance of world peace to young people everywhere. Each poster was selected for its originality, artistic merit and portrayal of the contest theme, “Our World, Our Future.” The three posters have been forwarded on to the district level.
