Sept. 7
4:50 a.m. Vandalism. Watab Court. An officer was dispatched to a vandalism call at a resident’s home. When the officer arrived, he found a work van in the driveway with the passenger side rear window broken out. The owner had already cleaned up the glass and moved the van. The owner stated it did not appear anything had been stolen out of the vehicle. The officer was unable to locate anything that would have been used to break the window. The officer took pictures and told the owner to call if anything is missing.
Sept. 8
7:18 a.m. Special detail. Pinecone Road N. Due to information that was received, two patrol officers were assigned to work a special detail for a planned protest. Three people were holding signs up along the street in front of the school. No issues were seen.
Sept. 9
11:33 p.m. Noise. Amber Avenue S. Two officers were dispatched to a loud-music complaint. The complainant told dispatch he had gone to the door two times, but the renter didn’t answer the door when he knocked. The officers were able to get the renter to answer the door and turn down the music. The officers noted they could hear the music as they entered the building. The renter stated he didn’t think the music was that loud and planned on going to bed so it wouldn’t be an issue. The officer informed the renter of the city noise ordinance and that this was a verbal warning.
Sept. 10
11:05 a.m. Juvenile problem. First Street NE. A School Resource Officer was asked to assist with a juvenile problem at a local school. The officer was advised a juvenile male had left school grounds and was refusing to return, and school staff was following the child. When the officer arrived, he found the juvenile had already crossed the Sartell bridge and was on the roadway. The juvenile did not want to get into the officer’s squad, due to the amount of traffic; the officer assisted him into the squad for their safety. The officer drove the juvenile back to school, the juvenile refused to go into the school but after talking for a while he did go into the school with the officer.
Sept. 11
3:59 a.m. Citizen contact. Pinecone Road S. An officer was on routine patrol when they noticed a male party waving him down. The officer stopped and the male explained he was lost. The male was trying to walk to his girlfriend’s house from the Ultimate Sports Bar in Waite Park. The officer gave the male a ride to a nearby apartment building.
Sept. 12
11:07 p.m. Suspicious activity. Brookwood Lane. An Officer was dispatched to the area for a male walking behind some houses with a flashlight. The complainant was concerned the male was looking into houses. The officer located the male who said he was out looking for his cat that had run out of his apartment. The cat is almost all white but has a black tail and a black patch around its eye.
Sept. 13
10:09 a.m. Suspicious smell. Troop Drive. A Sartell Police Officer and the Sartell Fire Department were dispatched for an electrical smell inside a business. When the officer arrived, she was directed to the breakroom area; she noted she could smell a strong odor of something. When Sartell Fire arrived, they found something within a light had burned out and caused an issue that an electrician needed to look at. Both departments cleared shortly after.
Sept. 14
11:36 p.m. Property damage. CR 1. While an officer was on routine patrol, he was flagged down by a motorist who stated he had just struck vehicle parts in the roadway. The officer noticed a tree and street sign in the median had been struck. The damage was north of CR 120 and appeared to have been from a south-bound vehicle. The officer recovered a vehicle headlight; a quick google search informed the officer it was a 2012-2014 Honda CR-V part. The officer took photos of the crash scene and collected the headlight as evidence.
Sept. 15
11:15 a.m. Animal. Brookwood Lane. An officer was dispatched to a complaint of a dog being abandoned. The caller stated he was in his yard when he saw a female tie a dog to a fire hydrant and walk away. The caller stated he got on his bike and made the female come back and called the police. The officer spoke to the female who said she found the dog near the cemetery and took the dog for a walk looking for the owner. The female stated she couldn’t find the owner, so she tied the dog up and was leaving. The officer noted the dog seemed very friendly toward the female and even whined when the female walked away. The officer gave the dog some water and was unable to locate any information about the dog. City Maintenance was called and the dog was taken to Tri County Humane Society.
Sept. 16
2:01 p.m. Abandoned bike. Third Street S. An anonymous caller called dispatch stating a pink bike had been abandoned at the Natures Edge Park for approximately 30 minutes. When the officer arrived on scene, the bike was still there. The officer tried checking homes that looked like they had kids near the park but didn’t get any answers. The officer transported the bike to the police department’s storage area for safe keeping.
Sept. 17
5:51 p.m. Juvenile run. Fifth Street N. Officers were dispatched to a report of an 11-year-old boy missing. The mother stated her son did not come home after school, didn’t think he was at a friend’s house and was not aware of him going to any homecoming activities. Officers arrived in the area and the school resource officers made staff at the homecoming activities aware. As officers were preparing to have the mother fill out the proper paperwork, another officer located the juvenile male. The officer transported the male home.
Sept. 18
8:24 p.m. Special detail. Pinecone Road N. An officer was assigned to work a special detail for the Sartell High School Homecoming dance. There were no problems while the officer was at the location.
Sept. 19
05:14 a.m. Property damage. Third Avenue N. While an officer was on routine patrol, they noticed someone had knocked over the portable toilets at the soccer fields between the intermediate school and middle school. No one was around at this time. The area was checked with heat-sensitive cameras on the squads, but no one was located. The officer took photos and informed the School Resource Officers of this situation.
Sept. 20
1:49 p.m. Noise. 10 Avenue N. A complaint came to the Sartell Police Department of a noise-ordinance violation. The complainant called stating there was a garbage company picking up garbage at 5:30 a.m. and it was disturbing them. The complainant gave the wrong garbage company but after some searching the officer figured out which company it was and made contact. The spokesperson stated their contract said 6 a.m. for pickup hours. The person said they would notify their supervisor of the complaint and correct times.
Sept. 21
4:21 p.m. Extra patrol. Scout Drive. An officer was dispatched to call a business. The business requested extra patrol around their building as they have had a problem with a homeless person outside their doors. The person has been going to the bathroom in the grass and the business would like them removed if located. Officers have been checking the area and have been unable to locate.
Sept. 22
6:36 a.m. Animal. Pinecone Road S. While an officer was out on routine patrol, they came across a deer that had been hit and ended up in the middle of the roadway. The officer moved the deer to the shoulder of the road before busy morning traffic started. The officer contacted City Maintenance to remove the deer.
Sept. 23
8:45 a.m. Neighbor dispute. First Street NE. An officer was dispatched to a neighbor dispute. The complainant stated they have been having issues with someone in their building parking next to their vehicle. They believe they have also door dinged their vehicle. The night before a neighbor saw the individual put a note on their car and confronted the complainant’s wife. The officer asked if they wanted the neighbor spoke to and they stated no but they wanted it documented for now.
Sept. 24
1:23 a.m. Driving while impaired. Second Street S. Officers were dispatched to a business that had a male driver in the store that appeared to be under the influence; the male could hardly walk. The complainant also stated the front end of the vehicle was very damaged. When officers arrived, the male was in the vehicle, and it was decided to box the vehicle in so the driver did not try to leave. When officers neared the vehicle, they could see the rubber was completely missing off the front tire. The driver was sleeping behind the wheel with the key in the ignition. The male was assisted out of the vehicle and the male continued to be argumentative with officers. The male was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital for testing; charges are pending.
Sept. 25
2:16 a.m. Fire alarm. Le Sauk Drive. Officers were dispatched to a fire alarm at a business. Officers checked the building and did not see any smoke or flames. The alarm panel indicated lobby/pool area. Officers checked both areas and nothing out of the ordinary was seen. Sartell Fire arrived and found a faulty detector in the back area behind the front desk. The alarm was reset and cleared by Sartell Fire Department.
Sept. 26
2:39 a.m. Agency assist. Sixth Avenue N. St. Cloud Police Department requested assistance to saturate campus area for suspected shootings. A Sartell officer responded and looked for the suspect vehicle. The officer stayed in the area until cleared by a St. Cloud sergeant.
Sept. 27
5:08 a.m. Burglary. CR 120. Sartell officers were dispatched to a possible burglary. Dispatch stated a paper delivery person was near the business and noticed the window had been smashed out by a large rock. Officer responded and the front and rear door were still secured. The officers cleared the business and found no one inside. The keyholder responded to the business and will get video for officer and the dollar amount of missing merchandise. This case is still under investigation.
