Sept. 24
10:49 p.m. Traffic stop. Hwy. 15/CR 120. Officers were on routine patrol when they saw a vehicle with expired registration. While running the plate, officers were alerted the owner of the vehicle had a revoked license. The officer initiated a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, who was not the registered owner. The driver was unable to provide a driver’s license, but learned they also had a revoked driving status. During this time, officers observed several passengers in the backseat acting nervous. After speaking with the other occupants, officers learned one of the passengers had a theft warrant. The driver was cited for driving after revocation and the passenger taken to the Stearns County Jail on the warrant.
Sept. 27
7:20 p.m. Burning. Third Avenue NE. Officers responded to a burning complaint. Officers arrived to find a large brush fire under some trees, with the homeowner nearby. The homeowner stated they did not have a burn permit and was advised the type of burning was unsafe and needed to be extinguished. Sartell Fire also responded to assist in putting the fire out.
Sept. 28
10:02 p.m. Traffic stop. CR 1/Bellin Drive. Officers were doing patrol at Walmart when they observed a vehicle parked in the fire lane. As officers were running the plate, the driver got in the vehicle and left. Officers had learned the driver had a revoked driving status. A traffic stop was made, and the officer spoke to the driver. The driver admitted to parking in the fire lane and that they didn’t have a license or insurance on the vehicle. The driver was issued a ticket for driving after revocation and for no insurance.
Sept. 30
8:38 a.m. Drug possession. 21 CR 120. Officers were patrolling the business parking lot, when they spotted someone sleeping in their vehicle. The officer noticed the vehicle had expired registration. As the officer approached the window, they could see numerous pieces of burnt tin foil in the vehicle, which are known to be used for drug use. The officer woke the driver who admitted to the drug use. The driver was arrested and taken to the Stearns County Jail for gross misdemeanor drug possession.
Oct. 4
10:26 p.m. Vandalism. 35th Street N./Blackberry Circle. Officers were dispatched for a report of individuals egging vehicles. The complainant stated they were driving in the area when they heard something hit their vehicle. The passenger told officers they saw an object being thrown from another vehicle. When the driver stopped to see what it was, they saw it was an egg and that it had damaged their left headlight housing. Officers searched the area but were unable to find the suspects.
Oct. 6
8:39 p.m. Threats. Connecticut Avenue S. Officers were called to a threat’s complaint. The caller stated a customer had come into the store yelling at employees and demanding a refund. The caller stated the suspect then said they would return later that evening to beat them up. The caller stated nothing physical happened they were just concerned. Officers told staff to call if the customer returned. Staff never called back and officers provided extra patrol during the time the suspect was expected to arrive.
