Sept. 1
4:55 p.m. Stalled vehicle. CR 121/Jade Road. An officer went out to help with a mini cooper with no license plate that had broken down in the turn lane at Kennedy school. Owner came by later and the officers assisted with pushing the vehicle to a safe location. Owner will be coming back with a trailer.
Sept. 2
10:36 a.m. Medical. Seventh Avenue SE. An officer was dispatched to Serenity on 7th for a report of a 94-year-old woman with pain radiating to her back. Rescue was on scene prior to their arrival. Patient was transported to St. Cloud Hospital.
Sept. 3
10:23 a.m. Sign theft. Able Street E. Complainant came into St. Joseph police department to report a theft of ‘no peeing green dog’ signs that were taken from his yard. Voss stated the signs went missing on Aug. 25. No video/images of the incident were captured. This complaint will be documented at this time.
Sept. 4
2:34 p.m. Suspicious person. Eagle Ridge Court. An officer was dispatched to a report of a suspicious person. Complainant reported a white woman approximately 20 years old that walked up near his garage and looked in his window. She then took off and ran east through some yards. He said she also parked in front of his house and got something out of her car she was trying to hide. The officer located a woman that matched the description. She was going door to door passing out political flyers. She denied the suspicious activity and said they watched her the whole time and she was not looking in windows. Complainant was told of this.
Sept. 5
7:56 a.m. Suspicious person. Elm Street E. An officer who was asked to remove a person, arrived on scene. Caller said the suspect had left in a white Ford Explorer. When the officer first arrived, officer observed a white Explorer at the McDonald’s. The man was recognized, but not as the suspect David McCormic. Caller’s employee stated he has shown up at her house and has had casual conversation but doesn’t know how he found out where she lives. Looking at previous reports, officers had contact with a David McCormic. Unsure if it is the same person. Employee provided the officer with the name David Schultzenberg, who the officer knew to be driving the white Ford from McDonald’s. At this point, the police are unsure who the man is, whether McCormic or Schultzenberg. No crime at this point. Advised employee to get a harassment order if they can identify who the man is or to call police when he shows up again.
Sept. 6
2:27 p.m. Speeding. CR 2/CR 160. While on patrol, an officer was traveling northbound on CR 2, when they observed a black Chevy Silverado traveling south on CR 2 that appeared to be traveling above the posted speed limits. Activated radar and observed vehicle target at 77 mph in a 55-mph zone. Activated emergency lights, while the vehicle was coming to a stop, and officer observed the driver put his seat belt on. Driver stated he was unaware he was speeding but knew he was not wearing his seat belt. Driver was issued a citation for no seat belt, warning for speed. Radar was checked prior to stop and after stop and appeared to be working properly.
Sept. 7
9:15 p.m. Loud music complaint. Minnesota Street W. Officer was dispatched to a loud music complaint at Sal’s Bar on Minnesota Street W. A caller reported a neighbor had called them and reported loud music was coming from Sal’s Bar area. Officer was aware Sal’s Bar had an outdoor concert going with music. At this point, no further action taken.
Sept. 8
11:11 a.m. Found purse. College Avenue S. An officer was dispatched to College of St. Benedict to meet with security to pick up a found purse. Picked up a brown purse that contained tampons, cough drops and an expired fishing license. Officer was unable to find a number for the party but found a number for a household member who was called and officer left a message. Purse was not claimed by end of the officer’s shift. Placed into property.
Sept. 11
7:11 p.m. Dog complaint. College Avenue S. Officer was dispatched to a dog complaint on College Avenue S. The complainant is the apartment manager and received a message about a black truck in the parking lot with dogs locked inside for several days. Officer went to the parking lot and located the truck with two dogs inside. The windows were open several inches and there was water inside. The dogs did not appear in distress and only barked when someone walked by. Owner of the vehicle is not a tenant and no phone numbers located. Officer called the manager back and updated him. Manager said he would contact tenants about the issue.
Sept. 12
2:57 p.m. Suspicious activity. CR 121. While on patrol, an officer observed a vehicle parking in front of the river access and driver appeared to be sleeping. Made contact with the driver who is working for the power company and pulled over to take a quick nap. No suspicious activity observed.
Sept. 14
3:05 p.m. 911 hang-up call. Fourth Avenue NE. Officers were dispatched to a 911 hangup call. Caller called dispatch multiple times saying there was an emergency and would hang up. Officers checked caller’s mom’s residence on Graceview Drive. Caller was there earlier but left. Officer checked caller’s dad’s residence on Third Avenue SE. Caller had also been there and left upset after thinking he was locked out but wasn’t. Officer made phone contact with caller who said he was fine but would not tell the officer where he was. Nothing further unless he agrees to meet with officers.
12:23 p.m. Dirt bike complaint. Fourth Avenue SE. Officer was dispatched to an anonymous driver complaint. It was reported a juvenile was riding a dirt bike around on Callaway and Baker Street area and in the park behind Little Saints. Officers arrived in the area. No one was seen riding a dirt bike. The officer located a dirt bike in the driveway of a Fourth Avenue SE residence and made contact with parents. They said they would talk to their son and there would be no more issues. They did ask about riding it on their own property and the officer said that was fine as long as he stayed on their property.
