A Minneapolis man sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a two-car collision May 21 three miles north of Sartell on CR 1 in Brockway Township.
On May 21, at approximately 2:33 p.m., the Stearns County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting an accident with injuries located at 40321 CR 1 in Brockway Township.
When deputies arrived on scene, they found a 2023 Ford transit van had been traveling southbound on CR 1 and driven by Abdirashid Mohamed, 35, of Waite Park and a 2006 Hyundai Elantra had been traveling northbound driven by Colby Warzecha, 25, of Minneapolis.
According to witness statements, deputies learned Mohammed had attempted to make a left-hand turn into a driveway when he turned in front of Warzecha resulting in the crash. Warzecha was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the St. Stephen Fire Department, Sartell Police Department and Mayo Ambulance.
