Why is there stalled progress of the clean-up at the Sartell paper-mill site?
That’s a question many people have been asking.
Sartell City Planner Anita Rasmussen explained at the June 8 city-council meeting. The company doing the demolition and clean-up, American Iron and Metal, has submitted an environmental review of the process to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. The MPCA can take up to 60 days to review the plan and to respond.
AIM and the City of Sartell are hoping to get a letter from the MPCA in July at which time AIM can proceed with clearing the rubble off of the site for recycling or for other purposes.
