Matt Moehrle
Sartell
Vice Chair
ISD 748 School Board
An insert in the Oct. 18 Newsleaders purported to be a school-board election “voter guide.” However, the “Patriots” (a special-interest group) failed to include the responses I submitted on Sept. 16. True, I was unable to answer such politically loaded questions on an e-form that only allowed me to check “yes” “no” or “no response” on that form that didn’t allow enough room for my explanations. Instead, I sent them short, written answers. To be clear, I have no problem answering these questions and haven’t left a question unanswered in this campaign. It just wasn’t possible to provide a yes/no answer to most of them.
I published my answers the day this voter guide came out. They are on my website’s FAQ page, at https://www.electmatt748.com/faq. I believe they show the decisions I make as a board member are thoughtful, pragmatic and well researched, and I always consider the best interests of our students. They also demonstrate my main concern is the long-term health of our school district and that my focus goes well beyond the end of this election cycle.
It’s unfortunate this group did not share all candidates’ responses and instead only published information about their three preferred candidates. If re-elected, I will continue to ensure the school board remains focused on the best interests of our students and families instead of the political gamesmanship this group exemplifies. I humbly and gratefully ask for your vote.
