The City of Sartell is reminding residents – individuals and businesses – to adhere to the odd-even number watering restrictions imposed by city ordinance because of drought conditions.
The odd-even number watering restriction means if you live on, say, 125 Sample Street (the last number 5 being the “odd” number) you should water only on odd-numbered calendar days (for example July 7, July 9). And vice versa, if your street address happens to be, say, 126 Sample Street (6 being an even number), water only on even-numbered calendar days, such as July 8 or July 10.
The city is also requesting residents to refrain, whenever possible, from washing vehicles.
Watering should be done before 6 a.m. or after 10 p.m.. Other recommendations are to adjust one’s lawn-mower blade height to a higher setting and to inspect one’s irrigation system for any leaks.
Because of ongoing dry conditions in central Minnesota – and elsewhere – the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources might well impose further restrictions in the near future.
