The St. Joseph Police Department is strongly advising all city residents and visitors to double-check to make sure their vehicles’ doors are securely locked, even during the daytime.
That same advisory applies to keeping all garage doors and home doors locked.
During the last half of November there was an unusual spike of thefts from vehicles within the city, as well as incidents of tampering with vehicles.
According to the police blotter, the following incidents occurred at the following locations between Nov. 14 and the end of the month:
Tampering with vehicle: 124 Minnesota St. E.
Tampering with vehicle: 123 Fourth Ave. NW.
Theft from vehicle: 725 CR 75 W. 11-26
Tampering with vehicle: 115 Second Ave. NE.
Theft from vehicle: 210 Birch St. E.
Theft from vehicle: Birch Street E.
Tampering with vehicle: Birch Street E.
Theft from vehicle: 19 College Ave. N.
Vandalism to vehicle: 535 Northland Road
Theft from vehicle: 110 Birch St. W.
Theft from vehicle: 426 Minnesota St. E.
Tampering with vehicle: 912 Baker St. E.
Tampering with vehicle: 1003 Callaway St.
Theft from vehicle: 108 13th Ave. SE.
