Like it or not, winter is coming. Minnesotans have learned to either love or live with the snowy season, and most don’t realize just how dangerous it can be.
Each winter, adults and children are injured or killed because they are not aware of essential winter safety measures. Winter Hazard Awareness Week, Nov. 5-9, is about teaching adults how to behave safely and for children to learn to protect themselves.
Some of the easiest ways to get ready for winter are having a survival kit in the car, changing the batteries in the carbon-monoxide detector and staying well-hydrated during outdoor fun.
Stearns County Emergency Management reminds everyone that winter can be a beautiful but dangerous season. People can take some simple precautions to have a warm, safe and enjoyable season.
