Once again, St. Joseph residents and out-of-town visitors are likely to have a rollicking good time when “Rocktoberfest” takes place in downtown St. Joseph.
It will be held from 3-11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.
The annual festival is a take-off on “Octoberfest,” the famed music-food celebration that takes place every fall in Munich, Germany.
Rocktoberfest participants will be able to have fun in the open air or under a gigantic tent in the parking lot just across the street from the Catholic Church.
There will be German-style food, German and Minnesota beers, a beer stein-holding contest, axe throwing and, of course, dancing to live music. The featured bands will be a return performance by the “Bavarian Musikmeisters,” a 35-member band who dresses in German folk clothing and perform polkas, marches, folk dances and ballads. They will start performing shortly after 3 p.m.
Another band will be “Rhino,” a four-member Twin Cities rock band who plays classic rock and some country tunes. Some of their songs include cover versions of ones by Kid Rock, Taylor Swift, John Cougar, Prince, Bon Jovi and many more. “Rhino will perform from 7-11 p.m.
