Some Sartell residents will soon learn their precinct boundaries and polling places for voting will be changed for upcoming elections.
They will be notified by mail of the changes.
At the July 8 Sartell City Council meeting, Heidi Ostlie, the city’s finance director, explained the changes, and the council voted to approve them.
As before, Sartell will still have seven precincts. But the new boundary lines are slightly different than before because the city decided to make the number of registered voters in each precinct more comparable.
Here are the polling-place changes:
Voters in Precinct 1 and Precinct 3 will vote at the Sartell Community Center. Previously, Precinct 1 voters went to the Sartell Public Utilities building, and people in Precinct 3 voted at Messiah Lutheran Church.
Voters in Precinct 2 will vote at Country Manor, same as before.
People in Precinct 4 will vote at First United Methodist Church. Previously, the polling place was at Sartell City Hall.
Precinct 5 voters will vote at Messiah Lutheran Church. Before, they voted at Sartell Middle School.
Voters in Precinct 6 will vote at Celebration Lutheran Church. Previously, they voted at Sartell Middle School.
Precinct 7 voters will vote at Sartell City Hall. The previous polling place was at Celebration Lutheran Church.
Those affected by the precinct boundary changes will receive notices in the mail, Ostlie noted. If any voters show up at the wrong poll on voting day, their names and addresses will be noted, and they will be directed to their new polling place. The new boundary lines and polling places will also be available for all to see on the city of Sartell’s website. Ostlie also noted voters can find out their precincts and polling places via the Minnesota Secretary of State website. Seekers need only type in their city and street address to find out their precincts and polling places.
