With a new high school coming on line next fall, Sartell-St. Stephen board heard two recommendations that address reconfiguring the district’s buildings.
A committee that has been studying where to house pre-kindergarten through second-grade students recommended splitting the students between the district’s current elementary schools.
Elementary principals Sara Nelson and Kip Lynk recommended using Oak Ridge Elementary School for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students.
First- and second-graders would attend Pine Meadow Elementary School.
Committee members surveyed both buildings and made the recommendation after considering details such as counter heights, bathrooms and playgrounds as well as classroom confgurations.
The board took no action on the report.
A second committee led by Sartell Middle School Assistant Principal Zach Dignmann reported on names for the building that will house third- through fifth-graders. The committee recommended three names to the board:
Mississippi Mills Intermediate School
Riverview Intermediate School
Watab River Intermediate School
The board voted 5-0 to seek community input.
