The St. Joseph Park and Ride facility has moved to a new location. Previously located at Interstate Highway 94 and CR 2, it is now located about one-third mile east of the old location on the right of Minnesota Street.
Jodi Teich, highway engineer for Stearns County Department of Highways, said the new location was built to accommodate more motorists. The existing lot was too small for the amount of vehicles using it. The department had also received some complaints about the lack of lighting in the parking lot.
When the CR 2 St. Joseph bypass was built, additional land was purchased to build the new facility.
Teich said parking will be more organized at the new facility because it’s much larger than the old one and is paved, striped and has better lighting.
Motorists should begin using the new lot immediately. All vehicles should be removed from the old facility.
