Players plant future shade

After a long, hot summer of playing ball – one of the hottest summers on record – members of the Sartell Muskies baseball team decided it was time to plant some shade trees at Champion Field. And that is what they did recently – eight trees, mainly Fireball maples. From left to right are Luke Sweeter, Muskie catcher; Randy Beckstrom, team manager; Dean Schellinger, father of Muskie players Adam and Brian Schellinger; Shawna Rogers, Beckstrom’s girlfriend; her daughter Lily Beckstrom; Adam Wenker, Muskies pitcher; Steve Hennes, Sartell City Council member and a tree enthusiast; and Rob Voshell, Muskie centerfielder. Sweeter and Beckstrom are graduates of St. John’s Unviersity; and Wenker and Voshell are current students at SJU.
