For only the second time in the football season, the Sartell Sabres suffered a loss, this time to Willmar at an away game Oct. 12.
Willmar defeated Sartell, 28-21. At one point, Sartell led by 21-7, but then the game was tied 21-21 and finally Willmar surged ahead, thanks in large part to a 74-yard touchdown.
Sartell’s previous loss was to Fergus Falls a few weeks ago.
The Sabres’ seasonal record now stands at 5-2. It has one more game to play before play-offs begin – Bemidji, an away game Wednesday, Oct. 17.
