The topic of political disenfranchisement will be addressed by Dr. Diana Taylor in her talk, “Politics of Passion” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 at the Gorecki Conference Center at the College of St. Benedict.
The talk is free and open to the public.
Taylor will discuss the options people have for political and economic justice when the electoral process has been violated or corrupted, the media has been sequestered in the hands of power-brokers and political parties may be failing to represent their constituencies.
Taylor, a highly honored author, is the founding director of the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics. She has studied and written extensively about her experiences in Latin America and the United States. Her books combine many topics, including comparative literature, politics and culture.
