Tyler Broadwell, a 2012 Sartell High School graduate, has qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships as a member of the Luther College cross-country team.
The championships will take place Nov. 17 in Terre Haute, Ind.
Thirty-two teams were selected to compete in the national championship event. The top two seven-person teams automatically qualified from the eight region, for a total of 16 teams. Sixteen additional teams were selected at large.
Luther College, located in Decorah, Iowa, placed third at the Central Regional competition held Nov. 10 at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. Luther was the only team from the regional to receive one of the at-large invitations to the national championships. Luther will makes its 27th appearance at the championships, the fourth in the past seven years.
Broadwell, the son of Mark and Pam Broadwell, placed 38th from the field of 185 runners in an 8k course. He posted a time of 26:33:7 and missed earning all-region honors by three places. He was Luther’s fourth runner to cross the finish line.
