Though it got off to a cloudy start, the sun shined throughout the Church of St. Benedict’s annual parish festival in Avon July 15.
Hundreds packed the church grounds to enjoy ice cream, live music, a cake walk, multiple inflatables, a farmers’ market and more.
“We gave the festival a little facelift this year,” Festival Chairperson Ben Budde said. “We wanted to offer something different.”
Budde said organizers added the inflatables to provide a different experience along with new stands offering festival favorites like donut holes and cotton candy. It was a hit as lines were steady at the various rides, games and food stands.
Budde said the first festival started in the 1960s and has been a tradition ever since.
