U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar met Tuesday with Dave Peterson, who is the incoming president and chief executive officer of Verso and its three plants – in Minnesota, Maine and Michigan.
The two held a discussion in Klobuchar’s Washington, D.C. office.
Klobuchar asked Peterson how she and others can be of help to get Verso in Sartell back on its feet.
“The Verso paper mill in Sartell,” Klobuchar said, “is a critical part of the local community, providing good jobs and boosting the area’s economy. Today’s meeting was an opportunity to discuss the company’s quick response to the tragic fire and its efforts to keep the mill. These are important jobs for Minnesotans.”
About 260 people are employed at the company.
