The public is being asked for assistance to help identify a vehicle that exploded in the early morning of Dec. 8 in Brockway Township near St. Stephen.
At approximately 3:46 a.m. Dec. 8, the Stearns County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from a nearby resident that reported a large fire near 9220 Tallow Road in Brockway Township. The caller reported hearing a loud “boom,” followed by two or three others. When the caller looked outside, they could see flames in a field near Tallow Road.
Upon arrival deputies located a vehicle fully engulfed. The vehicle appeared to have traveled off road. No occupants were located inside the vehicle. The area was checked for individuals who may have been associated with the vehicle, but no one was located. Crews on scene could not locate any identifying information on this vehicle due to heavy fire damage.
This vehicle fire is still under investigation. The vehicle is believed to be a 2007 to 2012 Nissan Altima.
