A Rice man was struck and killed by a semi late at night on Nov. 4.
Jeffrey Skroch, 29, of Rice had stopped his semi on Hwy 25, east of Rice and south of Little Rock near CR 22 just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Skroch’s semi was parked in the northbound lane, partially on the shoulder and partially in the driving lane.
Another semi, driven by Christopher Marzofka, 31, of Boyceville, Wis., was also traveling northbound on Hwy 25. Marzofka’s semi contacted Skroch’s semi from behind. Skroch was outside of his vehicle at the time of the accident and was killed. Marzofka received non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation. The State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Rice Fire Department and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
