Twelve people received “Life Saving” awards at the Feb. 26 Sartell City Council meeting for helping save a Sartell man’s life.
Only eight of the honorees were able to attend the presentation.
The medical crisis occurred on Thanksgiving Day of last year when Ray Schwenzfeier collapsed in his home after suffering a heart problem in the midst of fun family festivities.
The award plaques were presented to them by Sartell Police Chief Brandon Silgjord.
The honorees were Stearns County Deputy Andrew Troen, Mayo Ambulance Paramedic Hannah Abraham and Sartell Police Officers Taylor Bartlett and Logan Eck. Four others who were honored with the Life Saving awards were family members at the scene of the Schwenzfeier’s medical crisis – his daughter, Kari Schmitz, and her husband, Matthew; and his other daughter, Julie, and her husband, Steve Muenchow.
The award-winners who were not able to attend were 911 dispatcher Logan Lunde, dispatcher Kara Marceau-Scharf, deputy Jordan Ulbricht and paramedic Deonna Steele.
After the awards were presented, the grateful survivor, Schwenzfeier, thanked them all and gave each of them a big hug as the audience applauded and cheered.
