March 12
2:06 p.m. Crash. Dehler Drive/Leander Avenue. Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection. Officers learned one of the vehicles was heading north on Leander Avenue, when the second vehicle ran the stop sign at the intersection, causing both vehicles to crash. Both drivers were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
March 13
7:30 a.m. Suspicious activity. Riverside Avenue S. Officers spoke to a woman who was alerted on her Ring camera that someone was trying to get into their house. The person took off once they turned the house lights on. The homeowner went outside after the person was gone and did not notice anything tampered with or taken. Officers documented the incident and advised the complainant to call again if the person returned.
March 14
12:24 p.m. Civil matter. CR 120. Officers were dispatched to a nearby business parking lot to speak with the complainant. The complainant reported a truck had tools belonging to his deceased father-in-law. Officers spoke with the driver of the truck, who stated they were on their way to return the tools, as they had done work for the man prior to his death. Officers learned the tools were never reported stolen so there was nothing criminal. Officers instructed the complainant they would need to go through the civil process to get the tools, and instructed the other party they were free to go and return the tools.
March 15
10:04 p.m. Fraud. Willow Lane. The caller stated there was an unauthorized transaction on their debit card. The transaction was for more than $126 to a business in Tennessee and had already been withdrawn from their account. The victim called their card company, who recommended they file a police report. Officers advised the caller to also reach out to their bank about the matter and relay any more information to the police department to help with their case.
March 16
6:33 a.m. Traffic stop. Third Avenue N. Officers were on routine patrol when they noticed a vehicle driving faster than the posted speed limit. The officer stopped the vehicle and advised them they were going 46 in a 30-mph zone. The driver was given a citation for speeding.
March 17
5:55 p.m. Noise complaint. Greenwood Lane. The caller stated their neighbor had been revving his car’s engine for about 45 minutes and was believed to be intoxicated. Officers arrived and found the homeowner on his deck. The man was impaired but coherent and admitted to being in his vehicle prior to officers arriving. Officers asked the man respect their neighbors and to keep the loud noised to a minimum.
March 18
1:50 a.m. Suspicious vehicle. Second Street S. Officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle. The caller stated a man was sitting in his truck for over an hour staring at them. The caller stated they were nervous because when they would look over at the suspect, the suspect would duck down to hide. Officers spoke with the suspect who stated he was kicked out of the house and was just hanging out in the lot. The man was asked to leave, which he did.
March 19
8:33 a.m. Crash. Riverside Avenue N./Sixth Street N. Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection. Officers learned one of the vehicles was attempting to go north on Riverside Avenue and did not see the other vehicle approaching. As the driver began to pull out into the intersection the two vehicles collided. No one was hurt.
March 20
10:13 p.m. Traffic stop. CR 1/CR 120. Officers were on patrol when they saw a vehicle driving east in the westbound lanes of CR 120. The vehicle then entered the roundabout the wrong way and continued onto CR 1. Officers made a traffic stop and spoke to the driver. During the conversation the driver provided an expired insurance card and was unable to provide any proof of insurance for the vehicle. The officer cited the driver for driving the wrong way down a one-way street and a verbal warning for no proof of insurance.
March 21
3:38 p.m. Dog complaint. Kirkwall Court. The caller reported their neighbor’s dog was barking all the time. The caller has tried to speak with the neighbor about the issue but hasn’t been able to get someone to answer the door. Officers responded and were able to advise the homeowner of the complaint. Officers informed the resident of the city’s ordinance and cleared.
March 22
1:40 p.m. Unwanted person. Second Street S. Officers responded to an unwanted person at a nearby business. Staff told officers a man was in the store, eating items and throwing the wrappers away without paying. Officers spoke with the man who stated he usually eats food items he’s looking at and then brings the wrappers up front to pay, however forgot his credit card today. Officers spoke with staff who stated this act was very intentional and asked the man be removed. The man was issued a trespass notice and left the store.
March 23
10:59 a.m. Fraud. Connecticut Avenue. Officers were told of a caller who wanted to report fraudulent activity on their bank account. The victim stated they received three unknown transactions in their account totaling $52,000. The victim stated their bank stated they needed to file a police report to freeze the account. Nothing further was needed from officers.
March 24
1:48 p.m. Harassment complaint. Knottingham Drive. The caller stated they’ve had the same scam caller contact their phone three times in the past year, stating they had won a large amount of money. The suspected caller states they won money and need some personal information. No personal information was given. Officers advised the caller to block the unknown number and again reminded the caller to never give personal information over the phone.
March 25
12:12 p.m. Vehicle in ditch. Riverside Avenue. Officers were dispatched for a vehicle in the ditch. Officers spoke with the driver and told them to remain in the vehicle until a tow truck arrived. The vehicle was pulled from the ditch and able to drive out of the area. This was one of several vehicles- in-the-ditch calls our department took due to the snow-covered roadways.
March 26
6:16 p.m. Traffic stop. CR 1. Officers were on routine patrol, when they observed a suspended object hanging from the rearview mirror of a passing vehicle. The officer initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver. The driver was given a warning and removed the object that was hanging from the rearview mirror.
March 27
10:59 p.m. Traffic stop. CR 1/Hwy. 15. Officers were on patrol when they saw a vehicle in front of them displaying expired registration. While checking on the registration, the officer learned the registration had come back as current, but the registered owner of the vehicle had a revoked license. Officers spoke with the driver who stated they hadn’t received their new tabs in the mail yet and believed they had already taken care of their driving status. Officers gave a verbal warning for displaying expired registration and a citation for driving after revocation. The driver agreed to call for a valid driver to pick them up.
March 28
11:41 p.m. Civil matter. Hi Vue Drive. The caller reported they had borrowed his friend’s Xbox and TV, however his friend was recently kicked out of the residence by his ex-girlfriend. The ex now had his and his friend’s property and she is refusing to return their property. Officers advised the callers situation did not constitute as theft and would have to handle the matter civilly.
March 29
1:46 p.m. Juvenile runaway. Third Street N. The caller reported their grandson had run away. The caller stated they had not seen him since the previous afternoon and his phone was shut off. The caller was concerned for their grandson’s safety as they had no idea where he went or who he was with. Officers completed a missing person’s report and told the caller to stay in touch if he turns up. A few hours later the caller reported her grandson had returned and was possibly impaired. Officers arrived and spoke with the boy who stated they were at a friend’s house playing video games all night. Officers spoke to the friends the boy was with and found no evidence of any drug use. Officers cleared the scene and passed the information to the school resource officer to follow up with the student.
March 30
1:40 p.m. Traffic stop. Clubhouse Road. Officers were running vehicle checks in the area, when they were alerted one of the vehicles’ registered owner had a suspended license. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver who said his brother owns the vehicle and is the one who is suspended. The driver did advise officers however, that he was revoked and just cited by St. Cloud police. Officers issued a citation for driving after revocation and told the driver to park the vehicle.
March 31
9:14 a.m. Verbal dispute. 13th Avenue N. Officers were dispatched to a verbal-dispute call. While enroute, officers learned one of the parties had left. The caller stated there was recently a court decision that changed custody pick-up with her husband’s ex-wife and the stress has been taking a toll on them both, which led to a heated argument. Officers advised the couple to seek counseling to help them better communicate their feelings toward each other in a better manner.
April 1
11:19 p.m. Traffic stop. Riverside Avenue S./Michaels Court. Officers were on patrol when they saw a vehicle driving above the posted speed limit. Office initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver who was unaware of his speed or the speed-limit change. Officers advised the driver they were going 47 mph in a 30-mph zone. The driver was issued a citation for speeding and released.
April 2
7:32 a.m. Custody dispute. Officers were called for a custody dispute at the location. The caller reported they had arrived to pick up their daughter, however her ex-husband was refusing to return her. Officers spoke with the ex who stated there was no agreement and they were awaiting a court date to resolve their disputes. Officers saw the child in the car and saw no immediate welfare concerns. Due to the civil nature of the dispute, the child was left in the care of the father and the caller left the property.
April 3
2:30 p.m. Traffic stop. Riverside Avenue S./CR 78. Officers were on patrol when they saw a vehicle traveling faster than the posted speed limit. Officers initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, who stated they were unaware of their speed and was on their way to pick up their kids from school. The driver was issued a citation for going 47 mph in a 30-mph zone.
April 4
9:33 p.m. Intoxicated person. 22nd Street S. The caller reported their friend was intoxicated and would not leave her apartment. Officers arrived and met with both parties. The caller stated they wanted to go to bed, and asked the police to escort her friend home, who lives in the same building. Officers walked the other party to their apartment, made sure they were safely inside and cleared.
April 5
3:47 p.m. Crash. First Street NE/Fifth Avenue E. Officers were dispatched to a three-vehicle crash. Officers learned two of the drivers had stopped for a goose that was crossing the street. While these two vehicles were stopped, a third vehicle arrived in the area. The driver of that vehicle told police they were reaching for something in their pocket and when they looked up struck one of the vehicles from behind causing a chain-reaction crash. Two of the drivers were hurt and treated at the scene for their injuries.
April 6
10:26 p.m. Suspicious person. Riverside Avenue N. Officers were near Watab Park, when they spotted two men playing on the unlit basketball courts. Officer approached the men and advised them the park was closed and curfew was starting shortly. Both parties packed up their things and left.
April 7
7:16 a.m. Animal complaint. Riverside Avenue N./First Street N. A passerby reported there was a large dead beaver on Riverside Avenue S. near First Street N. Officers arrived in the area and found a large beaver had been run over and was dead. Officers contacted Public Works to have the animal removed from the roadway.
April 8
9:33 a.m. Traffic stop. CR 78/Riverside Avenue S. Officers were on routine patrol when they spotted a vehicle driving faster than the posted speed limit. Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver regarding their speed. The driver was reminded about the dangers of speeding and given a verbal warning.
