Almost 250 senior citizens – people 55 and older – attended the recent ‘Cookout with Cops,’ an annual event sponsored by the Sartell Police Department.
Sartell Police Chief Jim Hughes told the city council at its last meeting the cookout was a great success. Now in its seventh year, the annual cookout took place at St. Francis Xavier Church’s Gathering Place. Besides hot dogs, hamburgers and other treats, the event featured several speakers. Hughes said the guest speakers were very happy with the quality of the sound system.
Mayor Joe Perske said he also enjoyed the event, and this year, now that he’s older than 55, he could eat his hamburger without embarrassment, he added with a smile.
