Stearns County has completed its redistricting process, thus creating new commissioner-district boundaries for the county.
The new boundaries are expected to have minimal impact on residents, as it is so similar to the previous map. In fact, the biggest change is one precinct in Collegeville Township, Precinct 2, moved from the 2nd to the 3rd District. There are also slight changes within the City of St. Cloud because of adjustments made with the congressional and legislative redistricting, changing precinct lines. But changes are minimal and the same two commissioners, Leigh Lenzmeier and DeWayne Mareck, will continue to represent that area.
The redistricting will result in four commissioners running for office this year, representing their new districts. Commissioners Jeff Mergen of District 3 and Mark Bromenschenkel of District 2 will need to run because of the shift in their districts. Commissioner Mareck, representing District 1, and Commissioner Lenzmeier, representing District 4, are scheduled for re-election in 2012.
